Safety

Writing to strangers should feel adventurous, not risky. This is exactly what Hasty does about it.

What Hasty does

PromiseHow
Adults onlyA date-of-birth check at sign-up and Google Play’s age signals. Accounts that seem to belong to someone under 18 are put on hold.
Your location stays vagueYou choose a city from a list. Hasty never uses GPS, and photos lose their location details when they’re sent.
Letters are checkedEvery letter is checked before it’s delivered. Letters that look like scams, ask for money, or are sexual or about someone underage are held for review.
Photos are opt-inUp to three per letter, hidden until the person receiving it chooses to see them.
You’re in controlReport or block anyone, from any letter or profile. Reporting never affects your own account.
Clear consequencesA flagged letter stops its writer sending anything: 5 days for the first, a month for the second, for good after a third. An account reported by three different people goes on hold until our team reviews it.
Honest about automationHouse penpals are tagged “House penpal”, and only come up when no real person fits.

Your letter rules

  • Never send money, gift cards or crypto to anyone, for any reason.
  • You never need to share your address, phone number or other accounts.
  • Be wary of anyone who rushes, flatters hard, or wants to move to another app.
  • Report and block freely. It never costs you anything.
  • Open photos only when you want to.

Hasty isn’t a dating app

Hasty is for friendship by letter. Romance isn’t one of the options.

Child safety

Hasty is for adults only, and has zero tolerance for anything that harms children. Read our child safety standards, or report a concern in the app (Profile → Child safety) or at hello@heyhasty.com.
