Hasty

Terms of use

Last updated 6 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Artifx SRL for using Hasty. By creating an account you agree to them, to our privacy policy and to the house rules.

Who can use Hasty

You must be 18 or older. Hasty is for adults only and isn’t designed for or offered to anyone younger.

We check in more than one way: the birthday you give, Google Play’s age range for your account where Play provides one, and what you tell people in your letters. If any of them says you’re under 18, your account goes on hold (you can’t read or send mail) while we look, and it’s deleted after 30 days unless it was a mistake. A phone used to give an under-18 birthday can’t sign up again for 30 days. We may ask you to verify your age.

Hasty isn’t available yet in the United Kingdom, Australia, Brazil or Indonesia, where the law asks for age checks we don’t offer yet.

One account per person. Keep your password and account key to yourself; you’re responsible for what’s written from your account.

Writing to people

Letters are slow on purpose: they take time to travel, depending on the distance between you.

Write like a person, to a person. No harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, spam or advertising, and never ask anyone for money, gift cards or crypto.

Don’t share anyone else’s private information, and don’t pretend to be someone you’re not.

Flags and gags

Anyone can flag a letter they receive. Each flagged letter is a strike against the person who wrote it.

One strike stops you sending anything for 5 days, a second for a month, and a third for good. Our team reviews flags and can take back a strike given by mistake — write to us if you think that has happened.

We may also remove letters, suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with or without a strike.

Strikes and appeals

Every strike or hold tells you why. If you think we got it wrong, tell us in Profile → Report a problem, or email [email protected]: a person on our team looks again, and takes the strike back if it was a mistake.

Intimate images

Never share an intimate image of anyone without their consent. If an intimate image of you was shared on Hasty without your consent, flag the letter (“An intimate image shared without consent”) or, without an account, use the form at /report-image. The photos are hidden straight away, and we remove them and any copies we find within 48 hours.

If you’re struggling

When a letter mentions self-harm or suicide, Hasty shows where to find support alongside it, and our team takes a look. Hasty isn’t an emergency service: if someone is in danger, call your local emergency number.

Copyright

Only share what you have the right to share. To report content that infringes your copyright, write to [email protected] with the details the law asks for (what the work is, where it is on Hasty, how to reach you, and a statement that you’re authorised). We remove infringing content and close the accounts of repeat infringers.

House penpals

While Hasty is new, some of the penpals you may meet are house penpals: profiles run by Hasty, not by a person. Their letters are written automatically from a set of stories about their lives. Their profile carries a small “House penpal” tag, so you always know.

They are only a backup: Discover always shows real people first, and a house penpal only comes up when there isn’t a real person who fits what you’re looking for. They also answer lost letters that nobody has picked up for a couple of days.

Each house penpal writes back for a while, then pauses their account and tells you so. What you write to them is read only by the automatic writer, never shared with anyone, and our team doesn’t read it (except, like any letter, when it’s flagged).

We’ll stop using house penpals as Hasty grows. When they stop, anyone still writing with one gets a last letter saying they’re pausing.

Collectibles

Stamps, postcards, stationery and rewards have no money value, can’t be sold or exchanged outside the app, and may change as the app changes. Rewards are earned in the app only.

Supporting Hasty

Hasty is free to use. An optional supporter subscription, when available, is billed through Google Play, renews automatically and can be cancelled at any time in Google Play. Cancelling keeps what you already received.

A free collection holds up to 45 different pieces: 15 stamps, 15 postcards and 15 pieces of stationery. When one of those is full, junk mail stops bringing that kind (and pauses altogether once all three are full) until there is room again or you become a supporter; letters, gifts and rewards still arrive.

Your content

You own what you write. You give us permission to store it and deliver it to the people you send it to, and to review it when it is flagged or when we need to keep people safe.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Account, or on the web at /delete-account. We may close accounts that break these terms.

The small print

Hasty is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it running and safe, but can’t promise it will always be available or free of mistakes, and we aren’t responsible for what other people write.

We may update these terms; if the changes matter, we’ll tell you in the app first.
